Main Purpose
Responsible for calculating total project costs and reviewing bids from subcontractors to ensure cost-effective options are included.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate enquiry documents, visit sites, determine project requirements, prepare timelines and schedules, calculate costs, advise on equipment needs, prepare method statements, produce cost estimates, prepare cash flow projections, liaise with Proposal Engineers, assist with cost control, attend meetings, coach Junior Estimators, manage estimating teams, update schedules, liaise with Legal officer, perform crane studies, and other related duties.
Competencies
Presentation skills, deadline-driven, accurate record-keeping, fluent communication (English), coaching and mentoring, management, ability to work under pressure, understanding project schedules.
Preferred Requirements
B.Sc., B.Eng., or B.Tech. in Quantity Surveying, Piping, or Engineering (10+ years’ experience); National Diploma with 15 years’ experience; Professional registration advantageous; 10 years’ construction site experience; Knowledge of engineering contracts (NEC, FIDIC); Experience with estimating software (e.g., Candy, winQS); Computer literate (MS Office, SAP).
